Greetings from our Reverend Diane Dear Friends, A new year stands before us, 366 days of potential for good. Have you ever felt that what the world really needs is more Love? Have you ever wished that you could make a difference? Have you wondered “What can I do to help?” Have you prayed for Peace on Earth? If any of these questions strikes a responsive chord in you, then congratulations! You have what it takes to make it happen! This is the year for establishing God’s love in your life. Holy Spirit has instructed me to encourage you in this transformative activity. The presence of God that is within each of us is the essence of Spiritual Love. As we honor that Spiritual Love that radiates from the core of our being the world around us must respond in remarkably wonderful ways. Using Spiritual Love in human interactions means that we are willing to listen to the other person and to give that person our full attention. Spiritual Love means that we set aside our own human expectations for the moment and actually hear what the other has been trying to say. As we practice Spiritual Love we are totally patient -accepting of others (with no qualifications on that acceptance). Loving with Spiritual Love means that we honor the other person’s differences. (not just tolerate the differences, but honor them). If we are introverted and live with an extrovert we understand their need to constantly be involved with others. If we are extroverted and living with an introvert, we understand and help them to find space to be alone. Using Spiritual Love means that those of us who like to plan and structure our days don’t get upset when a spontaneous friend drops in. It means that we go with our adventurous friend to the ‘new and unusual’ restaurant. It means that our brother who loves to tell a favorite funny story over and over is encouraged to share it one more time. It means that we don’t try to fix another person’s wardrobe or life style. It means that we choose above negative comparisons and fault finding. Using the Spiritual quality of Love means that we remember that we are all expressions of the Christ and that each of us has value, purpose and abilities. God created us perfect in our own wonderful way. This is the year for us to love ourselves enough to give ourselves permission to express God’s love through us, to bring into our world the blessing of more Love.
With
Love,
